Mim, now in 3D!

I guess I should explain what I was doing before opening commissions again. If anyone cares or even read these, that is.

TL;DR: I made (or I'm making) a 3D model of Madam Mim.

Since my successful failure doing 3D (the elf thing), I did what I usually do when something doesn't go right, and I lose my shit with. I came back later to get even angrier. This time I didn't want to just create a character, a model, I wanted to have a full process from start to finish to make a model that could be animated. I choose Madam Mim, since it's a design I've repeatedly worked with.

First things first. I had to learn Blender. I already had some experience in Zbrush (complete legally acquired through legal means, sure), but having this completely free and powerful tool sitting there doing nothing when I could be using it to create stuff from scratch was nonsense. There were other reasons like Blender having good tools to sculpt now and feeling like the transition between software was harming the work, since it was a jump in controls, and in things you could do (experience that I had with it too).  This might be a bad example but, when you either ride a bike or drive a car, the constant jump between them isn't doing any good. And it was high time I should've learning to use Blender instead of going directly to Zbrush.

(Sorry for my confusing posts, I tend to get lost in my thoughts. I'll try to be more direct.)

So, to learn the basics of Blender which were necessary to progress with anything that was more complex I went to this wonderful bastard.

The Donut Man!!!!

Blender Guru does really nice and simple understandable tutorials. Doing the donut was fun, even when some chapters like composition and such made me wanna bang my head against the wall. Unfortunately, I lost the donut I did, I think. This is all I have, if I ever manage to find the video, I'll post it on Twitter.

So having a basic understanding of Blender the only thing that was left was to find a tutorial which explained the whole process in making and animating a character in Blender. Easier said than done. Problems were, outdated tutorials in a software where important changes could be made within a year, or no having the full process and when jumping to another tutorial there were problems using what you had learned with what were you about to learn.

Finally, I found a guy who pretty much explained what I wanted to know, Dikko. But without getting into much detail, I end up dropping the tutorial. He did things really his way, only explaining his process (which of course he would), and without the vibe of a nice hand holding tutorial like Blender Guru. Props to him, even when there are so many artists and animators, I've hardly seen anyone doing a tutorial like his, where he explains his process in detail.

Anyway, getting frustrated I couldn't give my own touch I decided to scrap what I had on that tutorial on continue on my own. Also, I had spent a good amount of time and I wanted to have something before I opened commissions again. I loaded the model into Zbrush and gave it the details I couldn't (or I didn't know how to) give in Blender. And after battling with retopology

WHICH I DIDN'T, I LAZILY PUT UP SOME GUIDELINES AND HIT THE RETOPOLOGY BUTTON IN ZBRUSH (I will in the future, learn how to get better retopology even with the lazy way)

getting some paint done in Zbrush and exporting everything to Blender, fixing the model with a rig (lazily again, Blender has a nice Rigify addon),

making some proper hair and not the blob I did first (the eyebrows are a path and were a pain in the ass to assign to bones to animate. You gotta create empties for them, then grab the bones individually, yadda yadda... I have to think what to do with the hair which is also a path)

I started to have something.

So, what's left? Proper painting (idk anything about textures and such, which I should), proper weight painting for the bones, physics for the breasts and hair andddd pussy. I think I'll leave the pussy for last.

Oh yeah and tongue. Gotta have a tongue.

I think it's gonna be fun to have a Mim 3D model to make it do lewd things, don't you think?

That's all. Thank you for your support if you are there.
